The Matthew Atencio 3RSC Intermediate/Advanced Summer Skills Camp is geared to more competitive players who are serious about improving their game. These camps are open to all competitive players. Cost is $200. This camp also serves as a fundraiser for the 3RSC Tim Atencio Scholarship, Matt’s father who coached soccer in the Tri-Cities area for over 35 years. Every year, the Tim Atencio Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who win our essay contest, and provides them with a $1,000 scholarship as they move on to college. Since 2022, we have awarded $11,000 to graduating players.
A former Richland High School grad and standout player, Matthew is now based in Northern California, where he is a Professor of Kinesiology at California State University – East Bay, and Head Coach at Monte Vista High School, whose soccer program is ranked in the Top 20 nationally and are perennial State Playoff contenders.
Matthew was also recently inducted into the Columbia Basin College Athletics Hall of Fame, where he was the Head Coach of the 1999 Team that clinched CBC’s first ever NWAC championship in Men’s Soccer. In addition to the junior college levels, he has coached at the NAIA and NCAA levels.
Matthew is also a published author and researcher, with several books and research articles about youth sports. The Atencio’s are a soccer family legacy in the northwest, and includes Matthew’s nephew Josh, who is a former Seattle Sounder player, now with Colorado Rapids.
Assisting Matthew in the clinic will be members of our experienced 3RSC coaching staff, whose background and experience as players and coaches are second to none in the Tri-Cities area.
